About the real estate route βWhat Investors Ask First
Do I Have to Live in Brazil?
No. None of the three routes requires you to live in Brazil full time. You can make it your home, or keep the status while living elsewhere: on the startup and company routes, one visit every two years keeps the permit valid. Citizenship is a separate process, and that one does require actual residence in Brazil.
Can I Lose the Capital?
It is a real investment. Shares carry business risk and property carries market risk. The residency depends on the registered investment, not on returns, and we structure the terms so your position holds through the government's review.
Does StartBrazil File the Residency Application?
No. The application is prepared and filed by a licensed Brazilian immigration lawyer we have vetted, who contracts with you directly and represents you before the authorities. StartBrazil finds and confirms the investment, assembles what the lawyer needs and keeps the file moving. We are a private advisory company, not a law firm, a fund or a government agency.
How Long Does It Take?
It depends on the route and on how quickly the investment is in place. Our part, finding and confirming the investment and preparing the file, is a matter of weeks; opening your own company adds the incorporation, and property adds the purchase. The government's review runs on its own timeline, and nobody can commit to a date. What we can do is show you what the published approvals say about your route, with their dates, so you plan on evidence rather than a promise.
Can My Family Come?
Yes, through family reunion. Once your own residence permit is granted, your spouse or partner and your dependent children and parents can apply for residence on the basis of family reunion with you. Their permit is tied to yours and runs for the same period. It is a separate application, with its own documents and fee, quoted when you are ready.
